For anyone living with dysesthesia, the thing that’s supposed to comfort you the most—a hug—can be incredibly painful. Associated with distorted or unpleasant sensations when touched, dysthesia is usually coupled with abnormalities in the brain or spinal cord.
Dysesthesia occurs because of the damage to nerves that MS causes. The brain struggles to read nerve signals correctly, so ends up telling parts of our bodies that they’re feeling something which is actually incorrect.
